Introduction
Before 1995, the Public Service Commission (PSC) administered the Special Malay Bursary (SMB) for Malay students studying in the local tertiary institutions. In 1995, MENDAKI took over the administration of the SMB.

Eligibility
1. Singapore Malay Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident.
2. Pursuing first-year studies in a full-time University degree course offered by any of the six local Universities:
a. National University of Singapore (NUS)
b. Nanyang Technological University of Singapore / National Institute of Education
(NTU/NIE)
c. Singapore Management University (SMU)
d. Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)
e. Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)
f. Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)
3. Have a gross household per capita income (PCI) of S$750 and below.
4. Obtained outstanding results in:
a. GCE A-Level examinations preferably with 3 distinctions or
b. Polytechnic Diploma with a Certificate of Merit or
c. International Baccalaureate
5. Possess good records of active participation in co-curricular activities (CCA).
6. Applicants must be in receipt of the MENDAKI Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS) scheme. You can apply and submit your TTFS application here.
Conditions
1. Priority will be given to applicants from low-income families.
2. Each applicant needs to submit only ONE application to Yayasan MENDAKI to be eligible for all other schemes. Multiple applications from the same applicant will be closed.
3. Applications will only be considered upon receipt of all fully completed required documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
4. Applicant must be a confirmed student of the local institutions mentioned above.
5. Applicants will be shortlisted based on a competitive evaluation among eligible applicants. Do note that fulfilling the eligibility requirements does not automatically result in an award.
6. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
7. The Bursary shall be used for the recipient’s educational expenses such as tuition fees, course materials, living expenses and fees for other educational activities organised by the institution the recipient is enrolled in.
8. Successful applicants need to maintain a minimum cGPA of 3/5 throughout their stay in the university.
Value of Award
1. Living allowance worth $3,400 per annum for the duration of the course of study subject to satisfactory performance of the recipients.
2. The recipient must submit a copy of his/her FINAL examination results yearly to Yayasan MENDAKI before the fund can be disbursed to the recipient.

Mandatory documents required to submit application
1. Front and Back Copy of NRIC of applicant and all family members residing in the same household.
2. Applicant’s most recent academic transcript clearly indicating their:
a. Full Name
b. Name of Course & Level
c. Subject Score or CGPA
3. Proof of student confirmation into Institution (Acceptance Letter) clearly indicating:
a. Full Name
b. Name of Course
c. Commencement Date
4. Family Members’ Particulars Form. Please download the form here: Family Members’ Particulars Form 2025
5. Latest payslip for all employed working adults in the household or official Letter from employer indicating the latest income.
6. Latest Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) Notice of Assessment (NOA) for all self-employed household members.
7. Latest CPF Contribution Statement for all Unemployed adults in the household.
8. All relevant Certificate of Marriage, Death Certificate, Divorce Certificate, etc where applicable.
9. Please submit a brief essay (under 150 words), sharing your achievements & outlining your goals for the next 5 and 10 yrs, in MS Word Format.
10. Other supporting Documents if any.
Application Procedure
1. First time applicants must create an account to be able to proceed with the application.
2. Applications should be submitted via MyMENDAKI portal by clicking the Tab on the right.
3. We will be in touch with you within 6 to 8 weeks upon closure of the application window.
4. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified.
5. Yayasan MENDAKI’s decision on the outcome of all applications shall be final and not subject to further review or appeal.
